Permit to Purchase

Permits are issued from St. Francis Police Department to residents of St. Francis.

Applicants are required to pick up their approved permit from the St. Francis Police Department. Valid identification is required in order to pick up the permit card.

Applicants need to read the application carefully and ensure the entire application is filled out. It can take up to 7 business days to approve applications. Staff will call the applicant when the permit is ready to be picked up.

Permit to Carry

Applicant must bring their application to the county sheriff’s office in which they reside.

The permit to carry acts as a permit to purchase. Those who have a permit to carry do not need a permit to purchase.

Under Minnesota law, handgun transfers involve any sale, gift, loan, assignment or other delivery to another person.
