Rivers of Hope

Rivers of Hope located in Elk River looks to empower victims of family violence through endorsement of positive personal and lifestyle changes. Rivers of Hope treats their clients with respect to honor who the client is as a person. Established in 1989, Rivers of Hope has grown to be the sole provider of services to victims of domestic and family violence in Sherburne and Wright County.

Rivers of Hope provides education, support groups, information, legal advocacy, and referrals, as well as a youth program and a criminal justice intervention program for their clients.

Alexandra House

Alexandra House in Blaine looks to “empower victims of domestic and sexual violence” all while educating and supporting those who walk in their doors. Established in 1977, Alexandra House a group formed to help battered women and eventually established a crisis line for battered women. The first shelter opened in 1980, but was only equip to handle 12 women and children. The current facility can house up to 35 women and children.

Alexandra House provides a variety of services that include advocacy, education, safety planning, economic assistance, housing resources, support groups, and a 24 hour crisis line.
