Body Camera Introduction

Officers from the St. Francis Police Department have been issued Body Worn Cameras (BWCs), also known as "body cams". The St. Francis Police Department is joining the national trend in Law Enforcement of increasing transparency and accountability. The intent is to enhance the mission of the department by documenting contacts between members of our agency and the public. By utilizing BWCs we hope to accomplish many things including but not limited to:

• Enhancing public trust
• Capturing digital and audio-video evidence
• Assisting officers with recalling factors or other details of an incident
• Utilizing footage as a training tool for officer safety and best practices

We are using Panasonic brand Cameras that are complementary to our existing squad camera systems.
