The St. Francis Fire Department was incorporated on May 9, 1963.  Since that time, it has a strong history of providing trusted fire and rescue services. Our Department is built on the foundation of a full-time Fire Chief, a full-time Captain and Paid-on-Call (POC) staff.  Firefighter responsibilities include responding to structure fires, emergency rescue calls, station staffing during peak call volumes or inclement weather along with ongoing training to maintain and strengthen skills. In February of 2024, the City of St. Francis begin covering the neighboring city of Bethel for fire services.

All of our firefighters are dedicated to protecting the citizens and community at large. The St. Francis Fire Department’s primary responsibility is for fire suppression, first responder medical care for the sick and injured, special rescue, fire inspections, arson investigations, fire prevention and public relations.

Our Team protects over 8,600 citizens between the two cities and our business community with 24/7/365 services.  St. Francis Fire participates in active mutual aide and auto aide programs to ensure sufficient resources for, and from, neighboring fire departments. In addition St. Francis is also shares a multi-year contract with the City of Nowthen to utilize the services of our Fire Chief.   The City strives to be a partner in the north metro sharing common values and the commitment to make communities safe.
