Bat House, by Nathan Zandlo

PARKS AND RECREATION

Congratulations!

Congratulations to Nathan Zandlo of Troop 511 for completing his Eagle Scout Project this summer! Nathan’s project was to build 10 bat houses and install them throughout our parks. Nathan wanted to do a conservation project and came upon bat houses. Nathan took charge of all the planning and lead a group of volunteers to gather materials and assemble the houses. By providing bat houses, it gives bats alternative roosting spots instead of people’s homes. The houses also help reduce mosquito populations in our parks. Nathan will be attending college at the University of MN pursuing a degree in Computer Science. You can see the bat houses at Community Park, Rum River Woods, Highland Woods and Dellwood River Trail.
