Definitions of Water, Wastewater and Stormwater -

  • Water also called drinking water, is the water that is improved and made safe to drink or to use for food preparation.

 

  • Wastewater is any water you create in your home or business for laundry, doing dishes, toilet usage, bathing/showering, etc.

 

  • Stormwater, also spelled storm water, is water that originates during any precipitation event and snow/ice melt. Stormwater can soak into the soil (infiltrate), be held on the surface and evaporate, or runoff and end up in nearby streams, rivers, or other water bodies (surface water).
